Connor & Brinley Snyder

Update December 2020:

Lisa Snyder had a status hearing on November 12, 2020.  Her attorney filed for a change of venue for the case stating he cannot get an impartial jury.

He also is filing to sever the charges related to pornography and animal cruelty from the murder  case stating the charges are not linked and allowing that info in will inflame the jury.

Her attorneys have also made it clear they are going with a mental insanity defense in her case.

UPDATE: The next scheduled court hearing for Lisa Snyder is scheduled for March 12, 2020 at the Berks County Courthouse.  Prosecutors have until then to decide if they will seek the death penalty should she be convicted of first degree murder.

Lisa Snyder, age 36, has been charged with multiple counts related to the hanging deaths of her children on September 23, 2019.  At About 4:40 p.m. Lisa Snyder, called 911 to report that she had found her two children Connor Snyder, age 8, and Brinley  Snyder, age 4, hanging in their basement.  When officers arrived minutes later she was found outside on her front porch smoking.   She stated that she had tried to get them down but could not due to profuse sweating.

In the days after the children's death Lisa Snyder would be very active on Facebook, saying that Connor had been bullied about his weight causing him depression and that he had committed suicide, taking his sister with him as he had allegedly told her that he did not want to die alone.

Social media would also be her downfall in some way as it was later found when some Facebook messenger messages had been turned into police that Lisa Snyder had been practicing bestiality with the family dog.

It should also be noted that the family dog, described as a 50 pound dog, had been given away.  Authorities were on the search for the dog, to determine its weight and size.   Later it was understood this was to compare the weight limit of the dog lead the children were found hanging from (which was labeled super, 250 lbs) and the dog it was allegedly purchased for.

The children's deaths were ruled as death  by hanging and a homicide.

Lisa Snyder was arrested and remains in jail awaiting trial.

Additional details can be found in her arrest affidavit below.  We will update the story as the trial begins.
